A brand new pair of Blundstones were removed from the gym on Monday at the end of lunch. They are brown and size 5. If you accidentally took the boots, thinking they were yours, please return them to the office. The annual Holiday Turkey Dinner is today at lunch. Tickets will be distributed to students this morning. If you do not have a ticket, you must eat in your homeroom. Students playing dodgeball will be called first to finish before their games. Students will be seated with friends, just like at a restaurant so please line up at the door and tell the greeter how many are in your group. You will be led to a table together. Staff, if you are able to help serve, please come to the cafeteria when we call the first group down. Wellness: The Wellness Centre will be closed to everyone at lunch today and only open for select UBU students who are having a working lunch on Thursday. Music: There will be a band prep for Senior Band members today in period 4. We will be doing one last play through of our songs before this evening. Tonight is the Holiday Concert at KV High. All Singing Club, Beginner Band and Senior members will be performing! Everyone is welcome. It begins at 6pm. Band members are reminded to bring your instruments and music. If you are interested in being an announcer for the Talent Show, please sign up outside of the Music room. Art: Talent Show – Any students interested in having artwork displayed during the QMS Talent Show should head to the art room during 2nd half of lunch this week. Your creative work will be photographed and labelled for exhibit. Deadline for submissions is this Thursday. Sports: Basketball – JV Girls have their final try out after school today, be sure to check the call back list. Ski Club – If you have a confirmed seat, please give your signed paperwork to Mr. Nelson ASAP! Dodgeball Intramurals – Ball Avengers vs the Misfits and The Dream Team vs the Academic Assassins. Players from these 4 teams will be called first to the cafeteria to eat. Other: Daily Affirmation – Today is going to be an awesome day PRIDE Passes – A grade 6 student is very kind and takes it upon himself to sweep the classroom. He takes pride in his surroundings! A grade 8 student showed respect by trying to not walk on the freshly mopped floor. Ms. Mattina thanks you! The December Dance is tomorrow evening, from 6:30 to 8:30. Cash canteen will be available. Tuesday Trivia: Holiday Traditions Germany started the tradition of putting up a Christmas tree. The biggest working menorah for a Hanukkah celebration was 60 feet tall and built in 1997. They used a crane to lift a Rabbi each night to light the candles. Seven is the most symbolic number of the Kwanzaa celebration. There are seven letters in Kwanzaa and seven days for the celebration that includes seven principles and seven primary symbols.
